---
Instructions:
1. Activate the yeast:
In a bowl, mix warm water with yeast and a pinch of sugar. Let it sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
2. Make the dough:
In a large bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, salt, melted butter, and egg.
Add the activated yeast mixture.
Gradually add flour, 1 cup at a time, and mix until a soft dough forms.
3. Knead and rise:
Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5–7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1–2 hours or until doubled in size.
4. Shape the donuts:
Roll out the dough to about 1/2 inch thick.
Use a round cutter (about 3 inches wide) to cut circles.
Place on a tray, cover, and let rise again for 30–45 minutes.
5. Fry the donuts:
Heat oil in a deep pot to 175°C (350°F).
Fry donuts 2–3 at a time, 1–2 minutes per side, until golden brown.
Drain on paper towels.
6. Fill the donuts:
Once slightly cooled, use a piping bag with a nozzle to fill each donut with your favorite filling (jam, cream, Nutella, etc.).
7. Coat and serve:
Roll in granulated or powdered sugar.
Serve fresh and enjoy!
