Tarte au Sucre – Traditional French-Canadian Sugar Pie


 Tarte au Sucre is a beloved French-Canadian dessert, known for its rich, sweet filling made from brown sugar, cream, and butter. This delicious sugar pie, often served warm or chilled, is a comforting treat that brings a taste of Quebec's culinary heritage to any table.


Ingredients:


For the Filling:


1 cup brown sugar


1 cup heavy cream (or evaporated milk)


2 tablespoons butter, melted


2 tablespoons all-purpose flour


1 teaspoon vanilla extract


1/4 teaspoon salt



For the Crust:


1 unbaked 9-inch pie crust (store-bought or homemade)



Instructions:


1. Preheat Oven – Set your oven to 350°F (175°C).



2. Make the Filling – In a bowl, whisk together brown sugar, cream, melted butter, flour, vanilla, and salt until smooth.



3. Assemble the Pie – Pour the filling into the unbaked pie crust.



4. Bake – Place in the oven and bake for 35-40 minutes or until the filling is set and slightly caramelized.



5. Cool & Serve – Let the pie cool before slicing. Serve on its own or with a dollop of whipped cream!
