500g ground beef or lamb
1/4 cup breadcrumbs
1 egg
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tsp dried oregano
1 tsp dried basil
1 tsp paprika
1/2 tsp red chili flakes (optional)
1/2 tsp black pepper
1/2 tsp salt
1 tbsp olive oil
1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese (optional)
Wooden or metal skewers
Instructions:
1. Prepare the kebab mixture:
In a large bowl, combine the ground meat, breadcrumbs, egg, garlic, oregano, basil, paprika, red chili flakes, black pepper, salt, and parmesan cheese (if using).
Mix well until all ingredients are evenly combined.
2. Shape the kebabs:
Divide the mixture into equal portions and shape them into long, cylindrical kebabs around the skewers.
If using wooden skewers, soak them in water for 15 minutes beforehand to prevent burning.
3. Cook the kebabs:
Heat a grill or pan over medium-high heat and brush with olive oil.
Cook the kebabs for 8-10 minutes, turning occasionally, until they are browned and fully cooked.
4. Serve:
Serve the Italian kebabs with pita bread, a fresh salad, or a side of marinara sauce.
Garnish with fresh basil leaves or a squeeze of lemon juice.
