Ingredients:
1 pound (450g) meat tortellini (fresh or frozen)
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 small onion, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
½ pound (225g) ground beef or sausage
1 can (14 oz) crushed tomatoes
1 teaspoon dried basil
1 teaspoon dried oregano
Salt and black pepper to taste
½ cup heavy cream (optional, for a creamy sauce)
½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
Fresh basil for garnish
Instructions:
1. Cook the tortellini: Boil a large pot of salted water and cook the tortellini according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
2. Prepare the sauce: In a large pan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add chopped onion and garlic, cooking until soft.
3. Cook the meat: Add the ground beef or sausage to the pan, breaking it up with a spoon, and cook until browned. Drain excess fat if needed.
4. Add tomatoes and seasoning: Stir in crushed tomatoes, basil, oregano, salt, and black pepper. Let the sauce simmer for about 10 minutes.
5. Make it creamy (optional): Stir in the heavy cream and let it simmer for another 2 minutes.
6. Combine with tortellini: Add the cooked tortellini to the sauce and gently stir to coat.
7. Serve: Sprinkle Parmesan cheese and garnish with fresh basil. Serve warm and enjoy!
