Ketchup Chips Recipe

 Ketchup chips are a popular Canadian snack known for their tangy, savory, and slightly sweet flavor. Coated in a bold ketchup seasoning, they offer a unique twist on classic potato chips.


Ingredients:


3 large russet potatoes, thinly sliced


2 tablespoons white vinegar


3 cups water


2 tablespoons olive oil


1 teaspoon salt



For the Ketchup Seasoning:


2 tablespoons tomato powder (or ketchup powder)


1 tablespoon paprika


1 teaspoon sugar


½ teaspoon onion powder


½ teaspoon garlic powder


½ teaspoon salt


¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional for spice)



Instructions:


1. Prepare the Potatoes: Soak the thinly sliced potatoes in a bowl with water and vinegar for 30 minutes. Drain and pat dry.



2. Bake or Fry:


Baking: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Toss potatoes with olive oil and salt. Arrange on a baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes, flipping halfway.


Frying: Heat oil in a deep pan to 350°F (175°C). Fry potato slices in batches until golden and crispy. Drain on paper towels.




3. Season the Chips: In a bowl, mix the ketchup seasoning ingredients. Toss the warm chips in the seasoning until evenly coated.



4. Serve: Enjoy your homemade Ketchup Chips, crispy and full of flavor!
