Ingredients:
4 cups water
1 cup cornmeal
1 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons butter
½ cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
Instructions:
1. Boil the water: In a medium saucepan, bring the water to a boil and add salt.
2. Slowly add the cornmeal: Reduce heat to low and gradually whisk in the cornmeal, stirring constantly to prevent lumps.
3. Cook and stir: Keep stirring for about 30-40 minutes until the polenta thickens and becomes creamy.
4. Add butter and cheese: Remove from heat and stir in butter (and Parmesan cheese if using) for extra flavor.
5. Serve: Polenta can be served soft and creamy, or poured into a tray, cooled, and cut into slices for grilling or frying.
