4 beef hot dogs

1/2 cup diced onions

For the Coney Sauce:
1/2 pound ground beef
1/4 cup onion, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 cup tomato sauce
1/4 cup ketchup
1 tablespoon yellow mustard
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon chili powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional, for extra spice)
1/2 cup water

Instructions:
1. Make the Coney Sauce:
In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef, breaking it apart as it browns.
Add the chopped onions and garlic, cooking until soft.
Stir in tomato sauce, ketchup, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, chili powder, salt, pepper, cayenne pepper, and water.
Let simmer for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally until thickened.
2. Cook the Hot Dogs:
Grill or boil the hot dogs until heated through.
3. Assemble the Coney Island Hot Dogs:
Place each hot dog in a bun.
Spoon the Coney sauce over the hot dog.
Top with mustard, diced onions, and shredded cheddar cheese (if desired).
